Love running? We’ve got you covered – from sprint training to marathon endurance groups. Prefer throwing? Whether it’s launching a javelin sky-high or powering the hammer like a pro, our expert coaches bring international-level experience to help you achieve your best. More into jumping? With specialist coaching in long jump, triple jump and high jump, you’ll be leaping higher and further than ever. Portsmouth's premier 5 mile road race

Flat, fast, and perfect for personal bests.

Established in 1946, the Victory 5 is one of the most prestigious 5-mile road races in the UK race calendar. Known for its flat, fast, and virtually traffic-free course, it consistently attracts top athletes seeking personal bests. The impressive course records of 22:43 (male) and 25:35 (female) cement the Victory 5 as a must-run event for competitive runners.

Join us on 7th December 2025 for one of the UK's fastest 5-mile races. Whether you're pushing for the podium, or running for fun, the Victory 5 has it all.

What's on offer

From 8 to 80 and beyond, there’s something for everyone at City of Portsmouth AC.

Our youngest athletes start in the Under 10 and Under 12 Fundamentals groups, where they learn the foundations of athletics in a fun and engaging way. These sessions are all about building skills, confidence and enjoyment — and over the years, a few future world-class athletes have even begun their journey here.

From the Under 14 age group upwards (Year 7+), athletes will begin to specialise with dedicated coaching in sprinting, middle-distance and endurance running, jumping and throwing. We usually recommend starting with one discipline, but athletes are welcome to explore more than one training group. All we ask is that you work closely with your coaches so they can support you to be the best you can be.
